Anne Sweeney

Anne Sweeney has been associated with Spectrum Music for the last twenty years and is the lead female vocalist in the Spectrum dance orchestra. Anne offers a huge repertoire that includes standard ballads and swing, from the big band era, as well as contemporary dance and pop music. She began her musical career on local stage, other venues such as the Staten Island Civic Theater, and Fredonia Opera Theater.

Anne has honed her craft by performing roles such as Maria in Sound of Music, Fiona in Brigadoon, Polly Peachum in The Three Penny Opera and Mrs. Wordsworth in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring. She has performed in Atlantic City and entertained the US troops overseas during the 1980′s.

Anne is a music instructor for Music Together and teaches music in pre-schools. She has served as musical director for The After School Theater Productions at The Petrides School. She received her degree in Speech/English, with a minor in Music, and boasts the recognition of Cum Laude from SUNY College at Fredonia. Anne has been a soloist with The Richmond Choral Society, most notably in John Rutter’s Magnificat and in Faure’s Requiem, and is cantor and lead soloist at St. Teresa’s Church, Staten Island. She is very much in demand as a wedding soloist, both in church and secular settings, and with both classical and contemporary repertoire.
